I am now accepting new students for private teaching. The lessons work just as private one on one lessons. Each student will receive an in depth instructional package including videos, backing tracks and diagrams. The lessons are stored on my website and can be viewed at your convenience.
My schedule is getting quite full and I can only accept a limited number. I would much rather focus on quality than quantity. I am passionate about teaching and want you to succeed!
Each lesson is $30 (discount available if you order more than one at a time) and comes with my guaranty that you WILL master the discussed topic. I will answer all questions until the student feels that he has a good understanding of the taught subject. The student gets to pick whichever topic he wished to work on.

Hi Sir David!:) good day to you, i just want to ask if what kind of approach do use over this chords, /Bb7/Bb7/Eb7/D7/G7/C7/? i got this from the song “The Chicken” of the late great Jaco Pastorius, i’m really just curious, and confused on what modes or scale to use. thanks so much..god bless.:)
Hi Richard!
Great question, there are actually quite a bit of things you can do here.
You can use a Mixolydian mode over each chord, but that might be a bit tricky first.
To simplify, you may want to try a Bb Dorian over the first 2 chords (instead of changing scales over each chords).
The Dorian over Bb7 will work even though though the Dorian mode has a minor 3rd. It will just sound a bit bluesier. As far as the second chord, staying in Bb Dorian will work because Bb Dorian and Eb Mixolydian share the same notes…
I play the chicken in my big band, and when i have the solo i just play Bb mixolydian and minor pentatonic over the whole progression, it works sweet.
PS: you should check out John Scofields version of it, I learned alot from watching and learning it
Cool!
Thanks a lot for the input!
